Levenshuis

proposal hospice/ Inter-Arcitecture / Gerrit Rietveld Academie

This is a design for a new hospice in Amsterdam. A hospice is a place where people can stay for the last phase of their life, in peace and with the care they need. The contact with nature is important, given this has a restorative and calming effect on the state of mind. The place is completely designed according to the needs of the residents.

Through the glass dome, the many windows and the glass wall there is a lot of light and view on the garden. The roof is overgrown with heather and the various plants in the garden provide a lot of green and colour every season. The separate houses offer the residents a personal, private space where they can experience life untill their last moments.
